Investment Decision Making

Explains the major factors in investment decisions (investment, return, duration and risk), the major methods of investment evaluation (payback, multiples, internal rate of return, net present value, adjusted present value, equity cash flows and LBO) and discusses capital structure (debt-vs-equity financing).  Project evaluation methods include advantages and disadvantages of various methods.  Present value methods cover the theory and determination of the cost of capital (or discount rate) and terminal value.  Capital structure covers the basic tenants of Modigliani Miller theory.   As a practitioner of finance I have also included common pitfalls I’ve observed as well as important tips for using Microsoft Excel.

Relevant Audience: Any professional who makes or advises in investment decisions.  Andvanced investors who do their own modelling.
