Sample Video:

Personal interactions play a large role in our business and personal lives, yet they are rarely discussed analytically and are almost never studied formally.  This presentation seeks to remedy this.  This is a deconstruction of personal interaction behaviors to help us participate in positive ways, avoid destructive habits, manage awkward situations and identify those who seek to manipulate us.  We begin with a discussion of positive behaviors in the mold of “winning friends and influencing people” such as taking an interest in others by asking about themselves.  We proceed to an identification of potential bad habits we can adopt, such as slipping into reciprocal vicious cycles.  We then examine a variety of subtle and overt ways others will try to manipulate us, such as cultivating a sense of obligation to compel us to act in their interest.  Particular attention is paid to identifying people who act in bad faith and how to manage them.  Also included are tips on defusing tension and resolving conflict.
